One Little Thing

June 28, 2025

On Wednesday the 25th, I got a popup saying my graphics card driver had an update. I installed it without thinking much about it. Big mistake.

I use Davinci Resolve to create videos, and after the update, it crashed constantly. I’d get a little work done, then boom—Resolve would crash. I’d restart it, find it acting weird, restart the computer, try again… and repeat the cycle. Over and over.

Thankfully, I had set a restore point before installing the driver. I rolled my system back, and just like that, everything worked again. Thank God for restore points.

And that got me thinking—what a gift it is that we all have a kind of spiritual restore point. No matter how far we’ve drifted from God, it’s only one step back. Ask for forgiveness. Turn around. Restore.

That one little decision to update a driver turned into hours of frustration. I’m honestly surprised I got the video done. I’ll share it below.

But first, a bit of context: our pastor, Jeff Atchison, is preaching through the Bible, and he’s currently in Genesis. On Thursdays he gives an overview, and on Sundays he dives deep. You can watch the series here:

This past Friday, I saw that Sunday’s message was titled Crouching Sin. I knew exactly what passage that would be, so I went back and reread it. I found a note in my Bible software—no idea when I wrote it—but it really spoke to me. I realized that short note in my software needed to be a video.

Crouching Sin

Based on Genesis 4:7, this short video reflects on the quiet, persistent nature of sin—and the power we’ve been given to choose differently. Sometimes the biggest battles begin with one small decision.>

While wrestling with that one little thing—a simple driver update that brought my work to a halt—I kept thinking about how fragile our systems are. One click, and everything was off balance. But in the middle of that frustration, I was reminded of something deeper: God’s faithfulness doesn’t glitch. It doesn’t crash. It doesn’t need a restart.

That’s the heart behind Faithful Through Every Season.

Set to the beauty of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, this video reflects on God’s steady presence—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Each season brings its own rhythms, its own challenges, and yet through them all, God remains constant. Faithful. Enough.
